If a patient opts to stay in a Skilled Nursing Facility, there is a level of care called General Inpatient Care (GIP). Whenever we assess a patient in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) and determine that there are existing conditions that would warrant a higher level of care, we will put the patient under GIP Care. This means additional support, on top of the services we provide, is required from the SNF, i.e., there should be a 24/7 Registered Nurse (RN) monitoring the patient who is ready to provide the assistance and support as the need arises.
However, there are certain rules and guidelines that Medicare has established for hospice providers to follow because not all patients qualify for this level of care. To know more about the details of this service, please give us a call so that we can explain to you thoroughly the criteria required.
